Frequently Asked Questions:

Q:
The raw data file has only a scan column preceeding the raw data. Does DWC Thermal Analyser - Professional account for this?

A:

If the raw data has a scan column (i.e. 1, 2, 3, 4... etc preceeding the data) it is in Reading Number Format, the scan numbers must be sequential throughout the entirety of the column. For more information, veiw the Instructional Video.

For successful importation of the raw data, ensure the Reading Numbers Format is selected from the Import Options. See Importing Raw Data Files.

Q:
The Raw Data file has data from both retort probes and product probes, however the product probes also have F values next to each one in an extra column. Does DWC Thermal Analyser - Professional account for this?

A:

DWC Thermal Anaylser - Professional can account for Fo (or Fp) values in every second column, however, this feature can only be utilised if every probe in the data set has its Fo value in the next column.

In this case, the Fo (or Fp) value columns need to be removed from the raw data prior to importation. DWC Thermal Analyser - Professional calculates the Fo (or Fp) values using the General (Reference) Method.

Q:
How does DWC Thermal Analyser deal with errored data?

A:

Obvious errored data, such as a faulty probe reading of -197 °C are not altered by DWC Thermal Analyser - Professional. If imported, these probes will display the actual readings. If the data has been replaced by (--) however, this will cause a loading error.

To amend a faulty (numeric) probe, there are two options:

- Delete the faulty probe from the raw data file prior to importation

- If the probe showing errors has been imported into DWC Thermal Analyser - Professional it can be ommited (ignored). To completly remove an influence from the faulty probe, it has to be:

Blank1. Ignored from the General (Reference) Method Tab.

Blank2. Ignored from the Temperature Graph.

Blank3. Ignored from the Min Max Table.

To amend a faulty probe that displayes symbols such as (--) etc, the faulty probe must be deleted from the raw data file prior to importation.
